Gimme all your advice and techniques regarding knapping. I'm about to get my hands on an unlimited supply of chert and I think it's a cool activity to pass the time innawoods. So how do I begin?

tortuga travel backpack vs goruck gr2.

i need input on these two backpacks i'm considering. interested if anybody owns either of them and could list some of the pros and cons for either.

i don't necessarily have a primary use, but i travel and hike so i need a in-between option that's not solely an urban option or a full blown hiking backpack.

>inb4 do your own research
this is part of it.

Hi I didn't see anything about this in the catalog so I thought I'd make a thread. I have recently become very interested in underground creatures and wanted to try digging around to find some.

Do you guys have any tips for finding moles, shrews, chipmunks, snakes, and the like? I live in Massachusetts.

I want to go /out/. I have no experience and I don't have any friends to show me the ropes or anything. I'm actually more interested in hiking and camping by myself but I understand that that's risky for a beginner. So I guess I want to ask you guys a few questions

What /out/ activities do you like to do and what got you into those things?
If you were going to introduce someone to those things, how would you go about it?
As a girl, am I disadvantaged with these kinds of activities and if so what things might apply to me that might not apply to most /out/ fellas? (If this is an annoying question or a faux pas, please forgive me and ignore this question.)

Also a more specific question, I am partially handicapped from a physical accident. My left arm is very weak. I have full range of motion but I can't lift more than 20 lbs with my left arm without serious pain, my right arm is fine though. Is this going to be a serious issue? Or more specifically, prevent me from /out/?

I thought it might be worth asking /out/ about ConFest. Do you go? Have you gone?

http://www.confest.org.au

For those that don't know it's a big outdoor gathering they do in SE Australia, usually a couple of times a year.
Music, hippies, nudists, camping etc.
I went to one about 20 years back. I'm getting an /out/ kit together and am toying with the notion of going again.

>look up various nature phenomena or outdoors terms on Wikipedia
>pages are only available in Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish. There literally exists no applicable words in English

Every time. Why is the English language in particular so devoid of these terms?

Is it a "100 words for snow" sort of thing, where Anglos have never had any real connection to nature?
