Greetings /out/
I had the opportunity to go to an indoor climbing gym the other day and ended up really enjoying it. I was surprised at how friendly everyone was too. Complete strangers would stand behind others to help climbers get their routes right or body placements correct; I thought that was pretty neat. I was curious as to who was on here who climbed regularly, whether at your local indoor, or outdoor somewhere and you think of it.
I surf regularly and felt that this was a good alternative to keep strength up through lulls in swells. Also, I live in Hawaii and I think there area a few small bouldering spots, but the rock is basalt and quite crumbly if anyone wanted to create any safe, long routes up a face so that style is out of the question.
I suppose I could scour the internet for tips, but I trust most of you better. Tips on route planning, how you like to climb, where you like to climb, this bit of gear vs. that bit of gear would be interesting to read from you.
Currently I have an Arc'Teryx A300a harness:

Side note: I'll be in Seattle over thanksgiving if anyone wants to get together to hit up a climbing facility.
