Anyone else here read why they are /out/?

i live in wyoming, and whenever i get a chance to go to Esterbrook or Medicine Bow, i always bring my big 'ol box of books.

Something about reading Tolkien in the middle of the woods, or while sitting by your rod waiting for a catch on the river

Flashlights!

No.608260 ViewReplyLast 50ReportDelete
/out/ I have been hunting for a good flashlight to take on night hikes, walks, camping, and maybe caving.

My budget is up to 50-60 bucks. Does not have to include batteries.

Pic related looked like good bang for my buck.

>Is a tomahawk useful when /out/ or are they pretty much just fedora axes?
Also, what's a good tomahawk to carry on the woods?

no multi-tool thread?
let's have a multi-tool thread!

i just went to fondle a bunch of them most of them were leatherman and a victorinox swisstool.

all the leathermans were fairly easy to handle but had a flimsy and cheap feeling compared to the swiss tool. the swiss tool on the other hand was fuck unergonomic. it hat great quality tools that you can't possibly open unless you have a thick long strong nail. wtf? why does victorinox do that?
i can't buy this shit, is there a manufacturer that got it all right?

so /out/ whats the best basics for a beginner? If you had to start your pack from scratch, what would you do? Assume you have a limited budget.

also, do you know of any good campsites in north eastern texas? i live in tarrant county (yellow on the map)
google has provided me with joe pool lake, but from my experience (years ago, in a camper) it's a little tame, and not /out/ far enough.
