I've never hunted before at all, but I like the idea of bow hunting. Is it insane to try bow hunting before giving the rifle a try?

Not really. Just take a hunter training course and practice lots first.

Go with an experienced bowhunter until you shoot your first animal so that you're not up to your elbows in clusterfuck when you shoot one on your own.

I've tried rifle hunting before. Its just not my cup of tea.
I think bow hunting has a lot more of a rush.
Rifles are just pull a trigger and the animal is down for the count. Bows on the other hand require skill and strength to take down a buck.
