Go to Idyllwild on San Jacinto, Angels Valley in the Cuyumacas, Laguna Meadow on Laguna Mountain near the border, Green Lake in the San Bernardino between Big Bear and Arrowhead, Lake Hemet on the slope of San Jacinto, or Oak Glen in the San Bernandinitos.
Those are the best places for greenery, especially Idyllwild. Idyllwild is every angle of the word fantastic, its verdant woods included.

i've lived in socal my entire life and i've never once felt this way. I hardly even notice they're there.

Then again, I don't go to touristy /out/ locations where of course rangers and shit will be out in force.

literally went on a hike the other day and saw douglas nightshade. same flowers as the tomato but poisonous
red tailed hawks and shit just flying around

Pretty nice hiking trails, yeah, i havent done all of them since i didn't start getting /out/ until just recently but what i have done i enjoyed.
Even the one camp ground i go to up there (Blue Jay) has been really cool and only once had loud assholes there.
Cool hiking, cool camping, hunting is legal and i only have GREAT things to say about the rangers. (Been let off twice for smoking weed)
Biggest downside for me in the heat down here.

I just moved to Ventura, I love the area and scenery, I just need some friends to go /out/ and show me the cool camp sites and shit. Fucking sucks having nobody to do shit with.

Also I'm trying to get into scuba diving to potentially turn into a career of some sort if I like it enough, if anyone has any tips or un-obvious facts for a young dude starting his to consider, it would be much appreciated.

i said that i never see park rangers, and when i do. they're in the very popular touristy bits of parks which i avoid anyway. Also, I don't fish or hunt but those guys seem to linger around those areas for that shit to catch cheap SOB's who dont want to pay for a permit.

Cleveland NF sucks dick, Laguna Woods Wilderness Park is a dry shithole, Crystal Cove is only worth it in the winter and spring, Topanga a shit, Angeles NF is ok at best, dry as shit right now. San Bernardino NF is pretty sweet right now though, pic related.

I would live all year round in Idyllwild. Going up there for some backpacking with my dad in November, then I'm stayin with my folks and my two dogs in a lodge in town for a couple more days. I love that place.
