Has anyone here ever gone camping in coastal B.C? What advice would you give to a first-timer who's considering a kayaking & hiking trip in Gwaii Haanas, or similar areas?

I'm moving to Prince Rupert by the end of March next year, and was wondering if anyone on here had any recommendations for necessary gear, skills I should develop, and general tips for how to survive in such a waterlogged region.
