Though this is with shit steelcase which is not at all ethical to hunt with, good hunting loads loads will make consistently 2-3'' groups as long as you sight in your ammo right. Not tack driving but more than good enough for hunting.
All this said, a mosin is really not a good hunting rifle with the length, weight and incompatibility with most optics without destroying value (yes, a mosin does have value outside of itself as a firearm). Coupled with the raising prices you are much better suited to simply spending another $100 on a savage or tikka or spending the same if you hunt around the used market.
