I once got way lost in the cairngorms. We were on a family trip and my dad hadnt seen the need for a compass. So far so good, i don't need a compass to find my way in normal conditions. Then it got foggy as hell. Couldnt see more then 20ft.
Moral of the story : if you're going to a mountainous area, bring a fucking compass.
