>>619789I do long distance motorcycling OP.
I have my Ironbutt, I tried to do a CCC100 this year, but got a flat rear tire on second leg and by the time I got a tow to dealer, got fixed and back on road, didn't finish in time. Still finished, just not in time. (Jax to SD and Back)
I haven't slept at rest stops, (have thought about it though) but there are commercial campgrounds near the freeway on your way that you can sleep at with a bed roll. I have stopped in these, slept and then get up in morning before they even open to pay for my spot.
I use a bed roll with a poncho liner inside to sleep. If it rains, I get a hotel.
Make sure you drink water OP. Once I didn't, thinking I was stopping too often to pee, so I drank less. Bad mistake. I was sucking the next day.
Make sure you stretch/exercise when you stop for gas/pee. Your legs will cramp up on day 2 or 3 and you will be done if you aren't getting good blood flow through your legs.
I have done several long trips, reply if you want to know more.
