Value of warranty versus savings of used/gray market

I know for me it's a peace of mind thing. I know there are many, many people who've gotten great deals on great used gear that's lasted them...it's just I feel like it's my kick though that if I take that admittedly small risk, I'm going to be I've if the ones burned.
