I am going to Japan for 8 days. I will be taking my 70D and I wonder how much memory I should take. Right now I have my lexar 633x 64gb. But I also already own a SanDisk 64gb. Should these two be enough? Should I get another Lexar?

Seriously consider backing up your photos while you're there, even if it's just uploading the JPEGs to Dropbox. If your camera gets stolen/lost with 64GB worth of photos in it, you're going to be pissed.

PS: 1-2TB should be enough even if you do some video.

People are still kinda right about the backup though. If you have an opportunity to upload your data home or keep two sets (where you live + on you), that is a nice thing.
And again by far easiest to realize with HDD/SSD.

Definitely enough for stills and even a little video. I often shoot small raw format if I know I'm only posting to web or printing pretty small. I made an 11x14 print from a small raw the other day and it came out perfect. The space it saves is definitely worth it if you are worried

Yeah, I do daily backups to an external HD when travelling, and also upload that stuff to my own FTP if I get the opportunity for half-decent internet access.

I guess a tablet with USB OTG would suffice for this if you don't want to carry a laptop around for something like this?

Yes it would.

I think there are also some external drives that can copy straight from the camera, but I've never tried those.

Yep, or even your smartphone.

I think many actually can power both a SD card on the hub as well as a 2.5" SSD or HDD on many OTG hosts. but if you want to attach two HDD/SSD for syncing you likely have to power the hub externally.

I was only going to use it on the plane anyway so I might be better off takeing my surface pro so I can back up.

SD doesn't die that often but unless your dumping them on your computer at the end of the day imagine how shit it would be to lose all your photos due to a failed card.

If you put it through multiple cards you'll be less likely to lose everything, worst case is you may lose a day. Even if they're small cards or your not using the full capacity of the card.

If your bringing a laptop and dumping pics every night it doesn't matter as much besides having a spare during the day incase it fails.

Didn't fill up the 64gb, still plenty of room, I went for 40 days, using A7s.

Internet wasn't that fast in most places when I was there, inc cafes, I took a usb 2.5" HD to back up to.

Better off with an unlim or high data rental wifi if thats your plan and let it upload over night.. some places on airbnb the host will include a portable wifi.
