>>2693322thing is its kind of retarded to care about picture quality for a phone after a certain extent. iphones with instagram filters are comparable to some of the best cameras out there currently for casual viewers when put side by side on the internet.
the only time the specs will actually matter at this stage is when 1. the photos are printed/larger than 500x500 pixels on a computer screen (which is pretty much never) and 2. very specific uses that camera phones won't be able to manage for a while, such as fast shooting rates for sports, fast AF and good night performance, DOF, etc etc. but for 90% of people this is all moot/useless specs anyway.
>>2693375they do but its aiming for casual users as opposed to professionals, unlike the sony varieties
it very much seems like canon is aiming at the entirely wrong audience. the only way I can see big camera companies being able to profit in the future is to get out of the casual game entirely; in 5 years time they'll be made obsolete by camera phones.
their higher end camera models offer something iphones don't; not sure why canon is trying to compete in a losing market when they still have a clear advantage in the high end market (which theyre steadily losing due to the lack of proper focus on improving their high end models over the past 5 years)
