I wasn't being critical. Honestly, I'm just curious as I love her work.

I know she soaks her film in different substances to get funky colors, but that doesn't explain the contrasty tones she gets in photos such as this, where I'd be sure there is some digital post-processing involved.

Otherwise, I'd love to know how she does it.

No this seems perfectly doable. Spot meter and gauge exposure throughout the entire frame and providing the drug store dont completely fuck up the processing you'll get approximately the results you want with a nice bit of artistic unpredictable flair.

I can see why you might think the contrast in these is suspicious or a little 'too good' but look at the source of light. It's definite and strong. There's no mild soft light to bring detail into all the frame so providing they shot with film that responds to this kind of direct light the way the artist wants than they can control contrast like this.

I was looking at the light source but moreso in the second picture, it's difficult to asess.

Would metering with the lcd screen of a rabal yield accurate results? Unfortunately I don't have a spot meter.

I'm pretty sure rabals have spot metering built in. The lowest end canon I have is an eos m which has it

As good as you'll ever need it to be mate. If you take your time and study the scene you want to photograph you can spot meter every area of differing exposure and determine yourself what the best average exposure would be. Or in the case of these images what exposure would give you the desired effect
