Help me /pol/ :(

Last night I was pulled over and long story short: the cops found approximately 1.5 grams of Marijuana on me. I was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana which is a B misdemeanor in my state (Indiana).

Any advice would be usefull, but more importantly: why the hell am I facing criminal charges for a little bit of weed? I'm not a criminal; I have no record, never even been pulled over before. This is really going to have negative effects on my life, but for what purpose? I know literal murderers in my county who have gotten off with less trouble.

Never thought I'd be in this position; I'm a victim of the war on drugs.
