>>54748977This is beyond pathetic. A man who is afraid of death isn't a man. No matter how rich and influential he might be, he is a sad, pitiful creature fooling himself he could cling onto life forever.
Men who truly want to live forever are memorized by the people for their deeds. No statue, no Rockefeller Research Center, no riches will be remembered for long. They will all be razed in time. The only thing that lives forever is what the people, generation after generation, deem worthy of passing on. Stories and legends of great men who did what was right are an example. Great works of science and philosophy are timeless. But this man, in his arrogance, has forgotten what it means to be human. And now there he is, after 101 years of age: a pathetic man fearful of death.
To me, this is a scared boy, who in his 101 years of life experience still hasn't figured out where he belongs. What a sad, unfulfilled existence this must be. I wouldn't want to be him.
