>>54744494World GDP/Capita was about $16.5k last year, so if somehow you could distribute that evenly worldwide on your unicorn pulled sleigh without crippling the productivity that created it there could be a slight argument for socialism/open borders because we'd all be merely a bit poor in first world terms.
However redistribution is always extremely inefficient and it simply isn't the case that there is $16.5k purchasing power to be distributed around among people evenly worldwide which is why redistribution is a fucking economic disaster for the most part.
>>54743046you're somewhat right here, we do import shitloads of high skilled immigrants who do well and most of our problem populations are from a last gasp attempt to save british manufacturing in 60s/70s going into the 80s with cheap foreign labour imports and then family reunification where such skill requirements were not present.
Most Asians coming to the UK now will be a net benefit individually, however chain migration ensures rapid regression to the (family) mean which may not be a net benefit all things considered. Also social capital is harmed by diversity, which is no small thing.
There's also brain drain to consider, in admitting only the high skilled migrants (which makes sense for us) we deprive much poorer countries of their best and brightest genetic stock and also the world by bringing them to places where they will likely have depressed fertility. Global Dysgenics (for IQ) is a real and serious issue, sucking up the best and brightest of the world to code apps and keep boomers alive till they're 120 is hardly a good long term use of such precious resources especially when they tend to have less kids in the process.
