>>54666229>Who the fuck is this guy burgersCruz is a firebrand, rose to prominence a few years back for spearheading a "government shutdown" in opposition to Obamacare. He's one of the few senators who actually does what he says he will do, even when it enrages his own party.
He's a "Washington insider" by virtue of being a senator but can also believably portray himself as an outsider, because the true insiders despise him with their entire being. He breaks the unwritten rules of Congress; you could accuse him of working more for his own political career than for his constituents, but no one can accuse him of working for his Congressional "party bosses"
The thing is, so far he never actually seem to win. He fights and shouts and raises hell, but in the end it amounts to little more than theater as the establishment get their way in the end. He slows them down but never stops them.
He's pro Israel to the point of it being nauseating. If he's just playing up to his bible-belt base (too often he speaks like a daytime TV preacher about to ask old ladies to send him their money) I can stand that, but sometimes he seems like a true believer and bestest goy.
All in all a little too focused on social and moral issues for my taste- his immigration stance is acceptable, but its just another item on his list- he doesn't push it with the passion that Trump does. Plenty of negatives but based on our options, he still makes my top 3 or 4 list.
