House Arrest

/pol/ what would you think about part of our criminal justice reform being house arrest for non violent criminals instead of packing our jails with them (Jails and Prisons in this case become training grounds to make non violent criminals violent criminals when they get out, as criminals have to learn to fight and join gangs to survive prison life). They wear an anklet, and it would actually cost less to pay rent on a studio apartment and send them groceries than it would to keep them in prison.

Society is still protected as long as they stay at their home and aren't out on the streets, and they don't become initiated into violence in the prisons. This would be for low level drug offenders, white collar criminals, people who are convicted of cybercrimes (like fraud, hacking, or identity theft, but not pedos, those are potentially dangerous to children) but deemed not to be a danger (they wouldn't be allowed to have a computer or internet access) to society.

We need to lower how many people are incarcerated in prisons and to reduce how many people become violent criminals after going to prison for non violent crimes.

But we still need to have laws and enforce those laws.
