>paid too much for a houseWhy?
I need to get this off my chest. I was, for a long time, a SJW and an activist. I thought I was right. I campaigned. I helped my local Labour party. I gave money to charity. I helped strangers. It wasn't a homeless persons' fault for their situation, nor those on benefits. It wasn't the immigrants, it was the bankers and the government. I work in insurance. I earn a decent wage. I am from a lower middle class background. I am privileged - is what I thought.
Then my mind changed. Why was it? I did one door-to-door too many. That's all that changed it. I was talking to some people, asking who they were voting for. These people had 4 kids. They had a massive TV and Sky (satellite TV). They had 3 dogs. How were they affording this? Did they have a job? No Were they on job seekers? No. They were both claiming for disabilities, despite admitting to me that they were healthy.
These people were spending money that was not their own on too many kids, on a larger TV than I owned and satellite TV I couldn't afford. They had 3 dogs they had to feed and look after. And why? All of this is THEIR choice!
And the best of it is, unlike the idiot in OP's picture, these people could never even get a mortgage, let along buy a house too expensive for them (because if they could, they would). No - they lived in social housing. And the fact is, social housing is EVEN WORSE. People have the attitude of "It isn't my house." Squalor is what they made of the house they were given. All the trash and lack of maintenance work. But everything was the councils fault.
People do fall hard on their luck. Systems are exploited by the rich. Safety nets are needed. But we should not support parasites. If bankers shouldn't be bailed out, why should you be? Your irresponsibility is your own.
