Honestly, I get really anxious thinking about it. Everytime I see a news article about some sort of contamination disaster, I become scared to the point that I can feel a panic attack coming on. I can't help but wonder when the effects are going to start causing society to collapse, and how close that may be. The news reports lately of the big oil companies that knew about this all along and still went along with it haven't been helping me either.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s, one of the biggest things shoved down my throat was the fact that RIGHT NOW, between 2010-2020, is when we'd see crazy dust bowls, coastal states sinking into the ocean, or daily hurricanes bigger then you cab even imagine. But there's none of that, none of the global warming predictions came true, it's like the Jetsons.

I think we're okay, I read a few times that this century we'll see oil dry up, so we'll be forced to find our "permanent" fuel sources, rather than finite ones we fight wars over.

Because of the way equilibrium and entropy works.
The hotter the planet gets the more energy will also be emitted. Higher concentrations of greenhouse gasses trap more energy and raise the equilibrium temperature but the relationship is not a simple linear relationship, more of an s-curve.
