i've been thinking a little about privilege checking this morning.
not about how absurd it is but about how it will eventually become offensive to minorities.
let's imagine a world where every straight white guy checks his privilege.
it literally re-enforces the idea of a racial and gender hierarchy that minorities cannot escape.
when you check your privilege you're telling minorities that you are inherently better.
this is eventually going to become a problem as more white people start checking their privilege.
blacks are going to start getting offended by this.
because what privilege checking really is is telling people that you realize you're better.
privilege checking is also something that only white people can participate in, so that will eventually annoy them even more.
of the black people i know, the last thing they want is for me to point out that im white and they're black.
when one of my white friends just mentions that one of my black friends is black you can tell they fucking hate it.

so instead of making fun of the whole privilege checking thing i think everyone should start doing it as a way to be
openly hostile towards minorities while having all the appearances of putting yourself in check.
