The key is to be intelligent without being aloof or mimicing what she says. Women naturally seek a pack order, it's why young girls do better in school than young boys. At that age they're far more dependent on hierarchy, it's in their biology. The teenage/young adult years women decide to live off the seat of their pants seeking validation.
She should see you as an equal, but your opinion should be valuable and practical. Admit when you're wrong, be honest and logical with some sympathy, but don't compromise against your values. Essentially you want to be alpha without necessarily being hyper macho.
She will see you as the top of the hierarchy but will also see her need to be a support for it. I've been with my current fiance for almost seven years now and we've both changed our political, ethical, and moral views several times, and more often than not they meld with each other.
This is all stringent on her upbringing though. Avoid girls with colossal daddy issues, they're always broken.
