Is this flag racist, /pol/? I bought one yesterday to hang in my window. There's no way I'm going to hang a fucking leaf in my window. Besides, most soldiers in Canada died for this flag, not for a fucking leaf.

The red ensign is used by regular ships, the blue ensign is used by state-owned ships that aren't warships, white ensign (the one with the red cross) is used by warships.

As only blue and red ensigns had the emblem/coat of arms of a dominion/colony in them, either of them usually became the national flag. It was really up to fate which one became more popular.

For example, here's the Australian red ensign. There's a blue ensign version of the old Canadian flag as well.
