An actor generally spends a lot of time with lobbiests, influential people, and other hollywood figureheads therefore, with some experience in acting/producing an actor is likely to have a head start in understanding politics as well as getting in touch with his constituents.
What about the rocket scientist? Politician/President is a massive career choice, not just something you do because you want to fund space programs (which the president wouldn't control anyway).
Additionally, the President is supposed to represent the American people and in a mostly Christian nation, it only makes sense that the majority would want their religion represented.
This argument strikes me as someone who has no understanding of government or religion talking about government and religion. Which is startling because about 5 years ago I agreed with a lot of the things this guy said.
