How much longer can the suburbs hold out? When I bought my house in suburban Atlanta seven years ago, it was almost all white out here. The few non-whites were all professionals who kept their houses well maintained and never caused problems. But over the last few years shit has been changing fast.
Right now I'm listening to the thumping bass of fucking chimp music because the house next to me has been rented out to a black family that doesn't know how to act civil. The nice old lady who had lived there since the house was built in the 1970s died earlier this year and her kids don't want to live in it so they're renting it out. This seems to be happening a lot in my subdivision and the other ones around here.
I'm thinking about selling before it is too late. I've seen what happens to those who think they can wait it out and end up having to sell their home for peanuts because crime has taken over. Problem is I don't want to live in the crowded city but moving further out would mean an even longer commute and it would eventually get blackified out there too. So now I'm thinking about moving to another city. One where this type of thing doesn't happen. What cities are there in the US with lots of well paying jobs for software developers, very few minorities, and traffic that isn't terrible or alternative ways to get into town from the suburbs? Does such a place even exist? Or am I doomed to either live in a crowded yuppie hive in the city or a trashed out suburb filled with crime? On the map I'm in the area marked "North Fulton" in a town named Roswell.
