Here's the reason that US pharma prices are much lower than the UK and general EU's;
Only FDA certified and regulated drugs are allowed on the market, generic or no. They don't recognise the regulation procedures and certification of other countries, incredibly fewer drugs make it to the US market and at higher prices since the FDA has a monopoly on pushing them through and at what pace. Monopolies abound simply because of this.
In the UK and the EU this isn't the case, as each country's regulation procedure is recognised in every other country, so we can ship generics and non generics to each other and from each other. More competition, better prices.
