Why does so much of it disagree with everything else we know (even from the other Gospels) about the traditions, titles, and even geography of 1st century Judea?

Just off the top of my head:

Mark 1:2 quotes "Isaiah" except not really, the line is drawn from Malachai. (Scriptural ignorance)

7:31 has Jesus going from Tyre through Sidon to go to Galilee. Sidon is north of Tyre and Galilee is to its southeast. Going through Sidon literally just adds distance to backtrack. (Geography)

7:10 (and other places, it's pretty universal) always refers to old commandments as being "From Moses" and not "From God", which is not a way any Jew of the time would have referred to them, since it was well known in Jewish theology that Moses was acting as a spokesperson, and is not the source of the commandments.

The infamous last words on the cross, "Eloi Eloi Lama Sabachtani" makes no sense in regards to the next verse of 15:35. If the onlookers think he's calling on Elijah, he probably didn't say that line in Aramaic, since Eloi/Elyas isn't really confuseable. Far more likely is that he said it in Hebrew (incidentally, the way Matthew portrays it), with Eli Eli, which would also make sense as he's quoting one of the Psalms.

Christianity actually hurt national unity. Every time Rome lost a war, a natural disaster happened, or something went wrong Saint Augustine would write some SJW tier paper about how the empire deserved fall because of they were looking to the emperor as a divine figure rather than the Jewish God.

Another is dealing with a prophet who can actually access (in a limited fashion) the mind of God. You can't really test the faith of someone like that, or I wouldn't think so.

Ehhh. I really don't agree with this assumption. Moses was in correspondence with God, surely, but saying that gives him some special insight into God's nature seems a needless stretch. Moses was tested *plenty* of times, I see not why this couldn't be exactly the same.

Mark was a human being attempting to write down the truth using various sources.

He made some mistakes and was likely not a personal witness to the events.

The stories are pretty consistent over in message even if some of the details are incorrect.

Its not like the Route Jesus took being different than what you would take disproves the whole story.

The lineage of jesus family is different in luke and mark. Doesn't really discount the whole story though .

I dunno, the text in Deuteronomy is pretty explicit that he spoke to God "Face to face" as opposed to literally everyone else.

And when exactly was Moses tested? Often it was Moses interceding because the nation of Israel was tested and was found wanting.

As far as I'm aware though, every major denomination of Christianity does claim that Mark was an eyewitness, and there's a strong tradition that he was Peter's secretary. (Which is also odd, Peter comes off as a moron in Mark)

Does the weird route disprove anything? No, not really, and it's not a detail of much theological significance, but it does cast doubt, at least in my mind, to Mark's credibility.

And really, what exactly does Mark add? A huge chunk of his text is reproduced in Matthew, whose major variations, even down to the wording, often are correcting these little linguistic and geographical errors.

Probably a minor heretical thought, but I'm pretty certain that Matthew wrote his Gospel, not to support Mark's, but to supplant it, because he noticed all the problems that Mark had with his.

I'm familiar with the episode, yes, just not the point you're trying to draw from it. This wasn't the first time that Moses was driven to an outburst because of the Israelite antics, and this time it came to bite him.

Which isn't to say he doesn't sin, there was that incident in Exodus where he fails to circumcise his son, and I'm sure there are others besides that and the rock that I can't think of at the moment.

It's way, way more plausible that this is an extension of the flaw we see elsewhere, especially in Numbers, about his increasing difficulty to deal with the complaints and problems of the people, culminating in the appointment of the lesser prophets to share his burden (Numbers 11: 23-30) than to suppose that all of a sudden, completely out of the blue, you have a total erasure of his personality for one incident and then back to his former level as if nothing had happened sans the death sentence he gets.

Ridiculous how? Moses isn't perfect - he messed up a number of times - that one most notably. You simply asserting your interpretation as 'correct' and dismissing other ones as ridiculous out of hand is what's ridiculous.

The apostles saw miracles after miracle and yet they fucked up constantly. Saying Moses is exempt is what's absurd, given he fucked up *MULTIPLE* times.

Jesus was Jewish. The 12 apostles were Jewish. The New Testament is an incredibly Jewish collection of texts.
