Our prisons are a revolving door.
Too many people condoning highly ineffective punishments. There are also too many people who think that rehabilitation is just a scapegoat for allowing prisoners to roam free and rape your young. I understand that this is retarded, but there are people who literally believe this.
Who cares? The problem is that prisoners are leaving prison worse than they came in. They're not returning to a productive life, they're going out to commit more crimes. Some are even more psychologically damaged than when they came in, especially if they've been in solitary confinement.
So, the question is, why shouldn't we focus on how we treat prisoners? Should I not care that my taxpayer money is being wasted? Should I not care that prisoners are leaving only to commit more crimes? Or should I just be happy that they're locked up for a while, and look the other way when they get out?
And how should we reform our prisons?
I think that if /pol/ is talking about "THE HAPPENING" and a police state, they should consider that these are the prisons they'll be heading off to.
>nothing good comes from asking /pol/ about prisons
