Honestly in a free market I she be allowed to pay as low as the market will allow, hell look at China, people there are happy to work for a fraction of the price per hour that entitled western liberal arts majors are.

Automate the system then?

Get rid of the plethora of waiters/waitresses and put a tablet on each table. The tablet contains your entire menu, people can pick directly from the screen, include a box in which people can write a short message for special wishes (allergies for instance). All this info gets sent to the kitchen where the food gets prepared. Then you will need just a couple of waiters to bring the food and clear the tables. No more need for every table being assigned a waiter, as the table doesn't need this "bridge" to convey info to the kitchen/staff anymore.

Every tablet needs to operate for 15 hours or so for it to be more cost efficient than a waiter.

The tablet also doesn't complain or require tips, so you can spread the tips out over less employees, or get rid of tips altogether and increase customer satisfaction.

I don't run a restaurant, but I have eaten at a place which had one of these tablet systems in place, it was highly enjoyable and the service topnotch. The only minor complaint I had was the fact that there was no "special wishes" textbox.

Because job creators dictate the price of labor, not the laborers. There is an innate self interest in job creators to pay as little as needed. If all job creators had their way, they would gouge their worker's payment.
If that were allowed, wealth would accumulate in only job creators and the economy would stagnate. Granted, the laborers would likely rebel in some form- likely killing the job creators and creating chaos in the economy.

Similarly, if the laborers had all the power, nothing would get done and the economy would similarly be harmed. It is the government's perogative to keep the economy stable, and thus control the tug of war between job creators and laborers. Of course when the government has other intrests at mind, it will favor either side and ruin the economy as a result.

Have you thought about valuing your workers more, not necessarily in direct pay, in order to increase their efficiency and thus your profit?

The better you treat your employees, both in pay and opportunity, especially in the restaurant trade, the more likely they'll be to do a good job and the more justification you have to weed out shitty workers. When they do a good job everyone makes more money, first and foremost of all...you.

You're pretty shit at running a business or lying, tbh. This isn't a complicated concept and anyone who has more than a couple months of experience running a restaurant staff knows it.

There is also a difference between full automation and using tech to make a business more efficient.

Having 1 waiter for every table is horribly inefficient.

Having no waiters at all requires customers to come get their food themselves.

Using tablets and a couple of waiters allows good service for customers, without a horribly inefficient business still run 100% by humans.

The restaurant where I'm a manager has 48 tables. On a busy Friday night like tonight I'll probably have 8 waitstaff, a couple bussers, and a 12-15 kitchen staff. Plus bar-staff who I don't manage. All that for a 5-6 hour-long rush. No restaurant has a 1:1 ratio.

Too much automation also freaks people out. You can show them menus on an iPad, but at a certain point most people want a human touch and a little human interaction.

My restaurant has been around longer than I have, so I doubt it's going anywhere.

And, in my case, I live in a city that supports paying a living wage, so paying our employees a little less than $15/hr got us good word of mouth/press and more customers.

My point was that neither extreme is desirable, a 1:1 waiter:table ratio is horrible. Having a restaurant run by tablets and robots is equally horrible.

I have dined at restaurants with tablets, regularly, I know the guy who runs it now, he cut 3/4 of his non kitchen staff thx to the tablets (and other streamlining measures).

There is a mosque about 300-400m from my house, they do have speakerphones to broadcast their, frankly awful sounding, prayers.

I have been mugged by gypo's who have a camp just outside of town.

I did choose not to go to the police, as there is absolutely nothing they can do about it.

It is actually (almost) November and pretty cold.

The only aspect that I made up and is not true, is the part where I said that I would be registered as a "minority hater", which I thought was a pretty obvious exaggeration for comical effect.
