Ngaatendwe Takawira, assistant registrar at the University of Zimbabwe, is fighting for her job after she was suspended for twice providing graduation caps of the wrong size for President Robert Mugabe, who is chancellor for the university and was presiding over the graduation ceremony.
The hat fuss caused a 45 minute delay, but no replacement was found, and Mugabe had to wear a cap of allegedly the wrong size. This caused an “embarrassing situation for the chancellor and the vice-chancellor”, according to Takawira's suspension letter.

Takawira is taking the case to the High Court in appeal, arguing the cap fit quite snuggly, and that Mugabe had not made himself available for fittings.
