>>54742621The problem with the "ideal" revolution is that it is exactly that, ideal. If you have ever read Clausewitz you will know that war is an expression of politics, and that there is always friction that makes the situation imperfect. An ideal revolution only exists in movies, books, and communist propaganda.
In reality the revolution turns into a bloody conflict where civilians are caught in the crossfire against the revolutionaries, the government, and any anti-revolutianary group that forms. It's never ideal and it's not always in favor of the revolutionaries.
The insurgents rely on the popular support of the population. Mao, someone who fought a revolution, said this in his writings. The problem is that not all of the population will agree with you, much of the time the population has to be coerced through violent means or tricked into supporting the rebels. ZANLA was notorious for killing villagers who were not in support of them.
TL;DR, its never ideal.
