The Brits wanted to do pic related. They wanted to build a railway from Cape to Cairo. With such an old alliance I don't get it why they wouldn't ask to build it in our territory, or come up with a more friendly solution, either way, they've fucked us over a few times in history, but the Portuguese don't like to fight so we just pretend we're friends as long as they keep spending their money in Algarve.

Sadly yes, less so nowadays but I remember in the 90's it was a hooligan flag more so, and the Union Jack in England was definitely seen as racist, but the Olympics etc have turned that perception around
