With archive.moe dead, it's obvious that the archives were, and still are, inadequate for the job. Old posts were lost, shitstorms were had. It didn't help that one of the boards whose archive was lost was /r9k/, which contained a thread suspected to be made by the Oregon shooter. To prevent this from happening again, each board should be archived independently by at least 3 separate archive sites. If one archive dies, there're still two left, allowing time for a new archive to be set up, in case another archive dies as well. As it is now, only /qa/ (Rebecca Black Tech, fgts, Desustorage) and /tg/ (4plebs, warosu, Desustorage) currently have such adequate protection. (I'd like one of the archive sites to be a master archive that archives all boards, but that's just me. In fact, something tells me it'd actually hinder matters.) Finally, is it just me, or is fuuka software inferior to foolfuuka software?

>>302035 I'd rather not see the same shit being dumped over and over because of a lack of archives.

>>302033 >is it just me, or is fuuka software inferior to foolfuuka software? Both are shit. Fuuka is outdated and lacks features, Foolfuuka was made with the purpose of being both an archive frontend AND a standalone imageboard instead of focusing on archiving. Both use a retarded method of storing posts/images which makes importing dumps a fucking nightmare. Both are pretty much abandoned, and so is Asagi.
Someone needs to make a new kind of archive without all the bloat that comes with foolfuuka, that saves images by md5 (removes the overhead of having to keep track of which ones have already been saved in the database) and doesn't keep them separated by board, and is made by someone willing to maintain it. I wanted to do it but I don't have the time.

>>302062 Currently it works like this: images are stored with their timestamp (like on 4chan), and to prevent duplicates there's a database table that maps md5s to the timestamp that image was saved with. So if you wanted to merge images from another archive you'd need to rebuild the entire images table for them to work.

Desustorage should give up and die. Archives should all die.

4plebs is very reluctant to archive a board if another archive(s) already doing it, except for /tg/.

Dude from bibanon here. We manage with was we can.
It's a matter of capital. Not everyone has the money to waste to archive 4chan.
After Heinnessen died guys that worked on the archives began to realize they needed to keep in contact so they could react properly to emergencies. but we can't just say "ok we will archive everything thrice and call it day", it's just not possible.
>>302035 I never really noticed any changes to 4chan's attitude after archives became available, and I come from the days the only archives where the /a/rchive and 4chanarchive

The changes actually affecting the imageboard dynamics are the removal of visible sage and the catalog.
