How do stickies work? Is there one particular mod who decides on what gets stickied or not on certain boards? What's the oldest sticky post? ITT discuss stickies and post old ones I guess.

What would happen if people could buy the option to sticky a thread?

Hmmm so it's a check box. That would make sense. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'number' but that makes me wonder if there has ever been a sticky on page 10 of some board.

Seems to rely on the mod's perception of the topic to the overall board culture.

/a/ right now has one about a continuing anime adaptation for Full Metal Panic after who knows how many years, so that can be seen as significant.

Flooding Page 0 of a board with stickies chokes the fluctuation of topics, which runs counter to the intended flow of discussion.

I honestly didn't know that, thanks for contributing, /a/non. I know the ones on /pol/ and /x/ are at least a couple of years old but perhaps not as old as that one.

The stickies on /co/ are retarded, we got a sticky when Yvonne Craig (washed up actress who played Batgirl on the 60s tv show) died but Murphy Anderson (legendary comic artist and creator) who died yesterday hasn't got a sticky.

Stickies don't follow bump order. A sticky with an order of 0 would be above any lower stickies. 1 would be below 0 and above 2+. It only matters when there's multiple stickies on the board at the same time.

The mods do a great job of making a current events sticky on /pol/ for certain things that happen. I especially like the annual State of the Union stickies and the Obama Bingo games that have been played over the last few years. Good times.
