What's your opinion on reaction images?
Do you use them? Or are they distracting for you? Do you think images should only be posted if they're relevant?

I don't think 'avatarfagging' is a thing on non-weeb boards. There is plenty of avatarfagging on boards like /tv/ and nobody seems to care.

I always found it kinda odd that avatarfagging's not allowed when they're only defined as literally a series of reaction images. I mean, wouldn't the OP in those adventure drawquests on /v/ be technically as much of an avatarfag is ROB/DigitalHypnosis was back when we had ROB threads?

Both the ROB threads and adventure drawquests got deleted by mods depending on the time. Reaction images were against the rules at one point but enforcing it would mean banning 95% of the site.

Reaction images are great. They are not distracting at all, so if you want to ignore them, you can, but they also massively improve the experience and general culture of whichever board you are posting on. Even other sites like Reddit and Tumblr have adopted them, but that doesn't make it faggy to use them because they have always been a 4chan thing. You can find your own OC reaction images and contribute to the community, or you can just save other people's until you have a picture for every emotion. And if you worry that readers might not be interested in your post, you can append a fun image to attract their attention. I know I am more likely to read a post if it has an image attached.

Reaction images are obviously at home on an imageboard, but as people have said, avatarfagging is a thing. Also, a downside is that people can get triggered if you post a reaction image from something they don't like and thereby ignore the poster's comment.

I remember when reaction images were new to the site.
