If you ever look through one of them, it's just people posting the same images in every single thread. I imagine that these threads consist of the exact same posters too. So it's pretty much identical to a /vg/ thread, except it's on the wrong board.
People usually respond by getting defensive and saying "what's wrong with discussing video games on a video game board?". However the whole reason /vg/ exists is to hold threads like this so they may as well use it. /v/ is already overpopulated as it is so it could do with diverting some of its traffic to an underused board. And while removing these recurring threads from /v/ wouldn't fix the board (after all, shitposting threads would still reign supreme), it would at least clear the catalog so that actual unique discussion threads don't get pushed off the board so quickly.
