>>23841089it helps if you have learned the concepts of music and all that jazz when you are a kid, its kinda engrained in you and you dont have to worry about the basic building blocks of music anymore and can just worry about the bigger picture.
-Learn your scales
-Learn to match pitch and sing along sometimes
-Keep a solid pulse in your mind
- use the pedal as you would use phrase marks in a brass instrument, whenever you feel like you would need a breath if playing brass, lift the pedal, or whenever the notes become to muffled or the mood calls for it.
-become comfortable with your piano in general, know what notes sound brighter or shallower on it.
-Definitely learn to read music, and remember you can play music at any speed you want and just speed it up as you get it, but you can literally play anything as long as you slow it down enough
-honestly though the piano is a great instrument and once you get used to it you can pretty much manufacture infinite amounts of good ambient music, or centerpiece music on the fly.
