The popular and successful ones were the same as any homogeneous kid, why would you have any identity or insecurity issues when you're surrounded with friends, drooped in attention and your life is set up to be successful?
Identity/insecurity crises can always been traced back to being a big fuckin loser in life. If you're biracial or a minority and a loser, you just turn to your race to blame "damn if I only I was white!". If you're white you just turn to something else to accredit your shit life to.
If elliot rogers, the posterboy for your worldview was pure white, he probably wouldn't have focused on race, but still would have been a homicidal maniac, because he was psychotic and completely alone. Race was just convenient for him to blame.
