WWIII is coming, but you sound like every white conservative from 2006. If you really think the things you listed are what's gonna cause WWIII then no amount of prepping will save you.

PROTIP: The proxy war in Syria, the quickly depleting oil reserves in Saudi Arabia, and the aggressive tactics in the South China sea by both parties are some hints to the who, why, and where of WWIII.

WW2 set a precedent for future wars, which refined the doctrine that took place in a limited degree in the first world war; that wars have moved from the battlefield to the cities held hostage by weapons of mass destruction.

WW2 demonstrated that in a total war scenario the factory worker, the railroad operator, and the homes of the nation's children are valid and even preferable targets for military payloads than the soldier in the field.

There is no turning back from this. Industrialized warfare was a pandora's box and military doctrine cannot un-see what has been seen.

Depends how the powers that be react to the current disputes. America is denying the proxy war even exists (despite it going on for years) and now that Russia is doing more against ISIS then the US ever has Obama has declared boots on the ground in Syria. Also, America is not stepping down from the "I'm not touching you!" Tactics near Chinese territory. I feel America's hubris is reaching a breaking point with the Eastern Powers. Whether the new president backs off or keeps pressing or relies on sanctions will determine the global political future. (Chinese production + Middle East oil = core of global production economy)

While I agree that humans will always have wars as long as we exist

But I have to say that he inevitable WW3 that is coming upon us will be the definitive end
Once one country drops a nuclear bomb on another I guarantee that that every country with nuclear arms will fire at their preferred enemy effectively ending the world
While the initial war may not kill every human the prolonged radiation and nuclear winter will make it near impossible for any life to exist
Add on top that most of our generation doesn't have any survival experience and relies on technology for everything and I don't see us surviving a post nuclear world
And if we do it will be in small neo-lithic like tribes

Depends on your definition of safe, and the risk factors of other countries getting involved. China has been investing heavily in South America and Africa in order to get better access to raw materials (cutting out the middle man). South-east Asia is a powder keg waiting to explode with all of the competing territory claims; fringe countries that lean Russia aren't good either. Not to mention the general upheaval in the Middle East.

I'd say that the EU, in particular the northern and/or Eastern EU countries are your best bet, especially ex-Soviet countries that lean hard EU (not as accepting of migrants while still having the safety of being in the EU.)

America is a safe bet as far a land wars, but enjoy your conscription. They hunt draft-dodgers like dogs. Even today, you're required to register with Selective Service ASAP.

Australia is also pretty safe.

Wars used to be fought between two opposing armies, after an army was defeated then you might see wanton destruction and rape come to a city, but it was almost always an objective that was impossible to achieve if the enemy's army was still in the field. It wasn't really until the 20th century that wars became the contests of two entire nations trying to shatter the entire war-making capabilities of the opposing nation-state as a primary objective.

The logistical support necessary for an army in the field today means that you can essentially render it inoperable by neutralizing the systems on the "homefront" that are necessary for it to actually fight.

Cities are now the PRIMARY targets, where in ancient history they were usually the spoils of an already victorious campaign.

It's not America's hubris, this is fueled by America's desperation. We have the same problem that the Chinese have in that a slowdown in the levels of "growth" and a return to a realistic economy might lead to a mass internal revolution and the loss of power for the elites. So in order to keep the party going America needs to deal with shadier and shadier nations [Israel/KSA] and make the rest of the word more unstable than the United States, so we can continue to base our growth on foreigners, even though our manufacturing base is gutted and our people are dissatisfied. KSA needed Assad gone to build their pipeline to Europe via the Syrian coast. We back the Saudi play because in exchange they keep oil prices artificially low and keep the petrodollar system going, where we can print more money, because other nations need to hold our dollars in order to buy the oil that keeps them going. And if we do a shit job of it, we can achieve the secondary goal of making Europe worse, so that America looks like an even safer investment.

How so? I would think a return to a realistic economy would be favorable for the non-elites. I would say I'm surprised that people today haven't revolted against the untenable system (skyrocketing college tuition, average wages no longer sufficient for living by yourself, much less you and a family, etc.) , but the U.S. police/military might ensures something like that never happens.

I would argue that cities were always the primary targets except for the period I mentioned, but that due to the nature of siege warfare, a city could not be properly invested until any armies in the region were defeated first. Otherwise you get trapped between the city and the incoming defensive army.
