also, the community colleges around here (data coming from ~100 CCs) have a fail rate between 60%-90% for college level math classes (varies by demographic, they don't even give us the overall number) among students who start at least 1 year behind college level math.
Our solution was to implement a program called statway that condenses the 2 year college level math program into 1 year and to praise it as some hail mary while ignoring the fact that all it's really doing is stripping the math curriculum down to the bare bones required to fulfill the college math requirement. It's pathetic. You don't even learn much of algebra 2. Source: Committee member, I have to listen to presentations on this shit and vote on it.
tl;dr your math program is probably fine, it's just that people in college who aren't already starting in calc 1,2 or 3 are absolute shit at math
