Without a specific property, it's hard to say how to find a. But in general, find the lowest integer for which P is satisfied.

Just use a similar form of the bisection method ! Try any a, if it doesn't satisfy P, try a higher one, but when you find one that does satisfy P, try findinga smaller "a" that does satistfy P, by finding the bigger n that doesn't satisfy P....
