I started my research project the summer before I started college, what kind of school do you go to that doesn't actively encourage undergrads to try doing research? And I learned basic chemistry plus some organic and calc 1 and 2 in high school, what kind of high school did you go to?

Research yeah, but first year? Barely do anything with calc I and II or gen chem 1 and 2, even with some ochem, you can't do much with that except be a lab bitch. What research subject are you working on? Be specific

I only did it for a couple of years and I'm no longer doing it because the research and grad school path wasn't for me. It was pretty basic stuff and I started out pretty slowly I'll admit, but I did get handed my own individual project and I had a lot of opportunity to get some good experience and do a lot of stuff. I was studying the phase relations in a ternary system.
