Most people do this thing called "work" which is basically the same thing, only with more pressure and someone chewing you out if you fuck up.

Seriously, though, limit yourself to 4 hours on the weekends, and make sure you get out in the evening once a week. Don't fuck up your life just for the sake of school. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but relationships and friends and stuff are way more important.

meh, depends on where you work and how your team is.

My last internship experience was like this:
>After arrival immediate put on PPE and prepare components.
>Set up control scheme and fire up reactors.
>Process previous day's samples in analytical lab.
>Go back to office and start programming/modelling/reading papers.
>30 minute meeting which is usually technical and intellectually intensive discussion about the problem we are modelling.
>Back to lab to remove samples from reactors and start second experience for the day.
>Lunch, drive home and watch an episode of some series while eating (I take a whole hour because fuck that place).
>Back at office continue work.
>End of the day switch off reactors and store samples.

All in all about 7 hours of work per day on average.

how did you learn? I'm 23 and struggling with this. I can only get 2-3 good days a week unless I take drugs.

I just started. Got into lifting, set goals other than academic ones, slowly increase the hours you work in a day. It'll take a few weeks to get into it

Too much study is bad. You have to be able to digest the information after you work. I personally put in an hour or two a day on two subjects, so 2-4 hours a day. I dont do any studying on saturday.

Now if you're going for Ph.D, then the work is your job so there shouldnt be any "studying" like practice, but studying like working on the thesis and research

No its not. When it came to school, i was lazy and distracted, i was lucky to be born smart to graduate high school in the top 5%. But i had to learn to actually exert myself mentally in order to become a successful student.

what I find is if you are stalling in non academic work you will academically to. Set real distinct goals for non academic things that have a clear line between them. I'm currently training to climb mountains ;)

I work out nearly every day for about 30 minutes to 2 hours (depending on when I get to the gym). But I can't get myself to do school related work and what not. It feels like there is no carry over from working out daily to studying daily.

Reading constantly for 8 hours won't do shit for example, taking notes won't change that either.
