>>7614849My idea of the fairy is not what we're talking about here.
It's like this. I could grow up believing the Parthenon was a type of delicious soup I once had at a small child.
Now when I ask you if you've ever had the Parthenon, you're at a bit of a loss, because neither of us are talking about the concepts in our heads, but rather we are referring to something in the actual world.
Furthermore, if we were talking about my idea of the Parthenon, it doesn't make sense at all to talk about what happened to it long before I was born.
Ideas and concepts are in your head.
So while it might be truly said that my idea of fairies is such that they always have pink wings, it can't truly be said that All fairies have pink wings because so-and-so. "Fairies" fails to refer to anything.
Compare: "Why did the present king of France go bald just three short years ago?"
"How many possible mathematicians are standing in my doorway?"
"Who last tripped at the round square cupola in the university plaza?"
"Why do colorless green ideas sleep furiously?"
