For background, imagine the intelligence of a single bee versus the beehive the bee belongs to. The intelligence of the beehive is exponentially greater than the single unit of a bee.
There is an emerging phenomenon that utilizes the concepts of swarm intelligence due to the effects of globalization and the widespread availability of communication. In the past, due to limited resources, the human species did not emulate a hive structure. Human behavior can now emulate the beehive phenomenon because of widespread communication and organization.
The problem with this emerging phenomenon are the endless possibilities of utilizing swarm intelligence. How will human beings behave collectively when they are able to act like bees in a beehive? If a single human has average IQ of about 100 what is the collective intelligence of all human beings in the beehive-like system? How does this collective consciousness behave?
A suggested starting point is to measure the current intelligence of a human-hive system. By using sampling methods utilized by Gallup and others for political purposes, we can create sample populations of the human-hive system. The sample population will be given a rigorous IQ test that measures incredibly complex patterns that are outside the realm of human intelligence within a period of time, T. All participants in the sample population will be given the IQ test and to simulate the human-hive communication the participants observe a graphical representation of the previous responses to be completed in time T. A control could be the average score of the same test by a single unit in time T. To better simulate the human-hive phenomenon, the study should be given to N different sample populations and every N + 1 sample population can see the graphical representation of the answers of the previous group. This is repeated until we have a final score measuring the collective human intelligence where further conclusions can be made.
