Calculus courses

Plan on taking calculus 1 next semester in college although I have never taken a pre calc or trig class in highschool. I scored relatively well on the mathematics part of the SAT, would I be okay with skipping pre calc and instead took calc 1 and worked super fucking hard to understand all the material I didnt learn?

SAT math is nothing, calc is easy if you just focus a bit. It's not a oh so tough thing you don't need trig for calculus, it's just something you should know anyway but you can probably pick it up. For calculus you just need to know functions and a little concept known as limits. That's what precalculus is for all practical purposes

You got to check if they will allow you to take calculus without taking any prereqs beforehand. In my university you are not allowed to take calculus without either 1) testing into caluclus in the math placement test or 2) taking trigonometry first

You'll definitely do fine the concepts aren't hard to pick up at all just do the homework and make an effort to memorize the trig because you'll want it for the proofs.

Engineering student reporting in. Calculus is the subject you will have to worry the least for.
Trigonometry is important at the matter of solving some rare exercices, but you can success only knowing limits and finite calc.

how is it needed for calculus other than solving textbook problems? Just because most problems you find in tests and all involve trig doesn't mean you need it for calculus. It's just a study of change

I took math courses as follows: algebra twice, statistics, calculus 1, then trigonometry. I earned a C in algebra, B in statistics, and A's in calculus and trigonometry.

I honestly thought calculus was the easiest. You'll be fine.

meh the trig you need they kinda cover during class. if they let you use a scientific calculator you are gonna be fine. otherwise just google unit circle.

I'm currently in calc 1 and I dont do much of the homework, I skip the class a bunch, dont take notes, havent touched the book, dont study and my the worst test grade i got was a 78. On that test the average grade was less that a 50. Got 100% on the 7 quizzes we have had already.
