We're talking about a global drug trade worth $36 trillion, almost instantaneously demolished. The impact of which won't necessarily be just obvious with the illegal drug trade, but may eventually reduce cost's of vital pharmaceuticals, as the studies of previously prohibited drugs may lead to safer and cheaper methods of saving lives.
Legalising drugs opens up a broad range of potentially history defining discoveries. Not every bright mind is currently employed by developers or manufacturers.
