I don't know, man. I'm only finishing my mathematics undergrad, and just decided that I didn't want to pursue a graduate degree in mathematical biology, and even my prospects aren't limited to call centers. I know statistics, some finance, and how to program. I'll be able to find SOME sort of job.

Well that's just sad. I'm sure he could have gotten some sort of respectable job, especially with physics. He must have known a bit of programming as well as a good amount of math, which can land you into a research position at some sort of institute.
