What are the origins of language? I heard someone say that women invented it in order to talk to their children. But how would anyone go about proving something like that?

probably hade something to do with hunting since hunting needs cooperation and language is a great for cooperative efforts
then again migth have hade something to do with gathering like "hey dude lets not pick that i ate it yesterday and im still having stomach cramps" but you know not in english

no one "invented" language it evolved and its still evolving
also pretty sure the earliest species of homos is where language originated
and also pretty sure saying "sweet nothings" is alot easier then inventing a language and would serve the same purpose
i assume what you ment it was to comfort the children
