So, I'm an amateur on programming and I have to do this task:
I need to make a program that reads some file and counts how many words there are which start and end with the symbls that have been typed in.
However, the program skips one scanf and then continues and I can't figure out how this should work.
Can someone please help?

OP, try adding a space before the second "%c"

so:
printf("What symbol...")...
scanf(" %c" ...

these two are essentially the same thing except that ignore will do what fflush(stdin) does for only one character while the flush will clear the whole of the buffer. This is how memory leaks are abused.
